The good, the bad and the evil
Started the month with a bang... ( theme song -The Great American Heroes .. " believe it or not I'm walking on air, I never thought it would be so good......." )
The Good:
- my two good friends/collegues and I passed our Part 1 MRCOG exam. It was fantastic- out of the 148 people that sat for it in Malaysia only about 48 passed... and we were one of the fortunate ones to passed at our very own first attempt as compared to a large number who have sat for it numerous times. It was so good and we had felt so invincible! 3 of us being great pals at work and the ones that are really great at work - meaning the ones that gets things done efficiently passed!!!
The Bad:
- but lo and behold .... our happiness was just to last as long as a smile. People were totally envious of us... how we hardly seemed to study and besides doing all those alternate day calls - the question was " how did the 3 of them do it?" the entire department starting from the senior most consultant down to my very own collegues were green with envy and had decided to make our lifes horrible. Believe me. Instead of being happy for us and supporting us and inspiring us, my bosses were horrible. I even got a threat to "watch my back" and not to be too smart..... Gosh it was like a total sin to pass... and somehow behind my back there is always this silent wish that maybe it wasn't such a good idea to have passed the exam after all.
The evil:
- to top things , and to make things worst, my good friend and confidante at work received a transfer letter to the district! What rubbish, someone who is pursuing her postgraduate degree who has her Part 1, being sent of to a district where the experience and work there, is not at all counted/considered for the Part 2 exam. And when she appealed to the state health director, the director's answer was " you are just too young to be a specialist" .
What crap! So the department is jubilating as the 3 of us - they call us API - Alysa,Patrica,Irishah, were finally divided...........but life goes on unfortnately...although I do miss Alysa dearly and work will never be the same without her, we will fight on and take it one day at a time and prove to 'these' people that we can make it no matter how hard and horrible they make our lifes......
It's important, when going after a goal, to never lose sight of the integrity of the journey." - taken from a Cadilac Ad in the U.S - from Robin Sharma's blog.
